Call for Nominations to shape the future of Global Standards
The International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) issued the Call for Nominations for the following independent standard-setting boards.
- International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB)
- International Accounting Education Standards Board (IAESB)
- International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA)
- International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (IPSASB)
There are 22 open volunteer positions, and nominations from all stakeholders, interested parties, and the general public are welcomed. The Boards are looking for qualified individuals from diverse backgrounds to contribute to the development of international standards, particularly those who are interested in gaining international experience while serving the public interest. There is a strong preference for female candidates and individuals from Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Latin America and the Middle East, to promote gender equality and a greater diversity in each Board.
For nearly two decades, the global economy and financial market stability have been supported by the work of these international, independent standard-setting boards. It is vital that these Boards have members who are highly knowledgeable and informed individuals with insight and perspectives relevant to global standards to ensure the profession continue to play its role in maintaining business confidence and protecting the public interest. As such, CAPA encourages PAOs to work with stakeholders to consider nominating suitable candidates where positions are available.
All those interested should review the Call for Nominations document, including detailed information regarding open vacancies, composition targets, specific membership qualifications and requirements. Nominations can be submitted through the Nominations Database before 15 February 2018.
