CAPA announces new leadership team for 2018-2019
The Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA) is pleased to announce Manoj Fadnis, from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), as their new President for the next two years, taking over the helm from Jackie Poirier of CPA Canada.
Manoj is a Chartered Accountant (CA), a Partner of Fadnis & Gupte Chartered Accountants, and a past President of ICAI. He has been involved with CAPA since May 2014 including serving as Chair of CAPA’s Public Sector Financial Management Committee over the last two years.
Outgoing President, Jackie Poirier, commented, “Manoj is very active in the accountancy profession in India and internationally, and has considerable knowledge in the areas of financial reporting and international standards. His knowledge and experience will be invaluable in leading CAPA to achieve its objectives and strategies.”
In his address, Manoj expressed gratitude to the CAPA Board and members for their support and looks forward to working with all members and stakeholders to collectively progress CAPA to the next level and ultimately, progressing the profession regionally and globally.
Meanwhile, the Board elected Dr. Chen Yugui as Deputy President. Dr. Chen is currently the Deputy President and Secretary General of the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants (CICPA), and is no stranger to CAPA having served as China’s representative on the CAPA Board from 2003-2005. Dr. Chen is very appreciative of the opportunity to be actively involved in CAPA again and noted that the election was special since it happened alongside CAPA’s 60th anniversary, a significant occasion particularly in Asian cultures.
CAPA Chief Executive, Brian Blood, is excited to work with the new leaders noting, “we have leaders from professional accountancy organisations in two of the most rapidly growing and significant economies in Asia, whom are very dedicated to the profession, and we are confident that both will have much to contribute to continuing CAPA’s mission to develop, coordinate and advance the profession in the region.”
