The Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA) is set to stage the next CAPA Conference in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from 20-22 October 2020.

The CAPA Conference has been held approximately once every four years since CAPA’s inception in 1957. It has proven to be an important platform providing delegates the opportunity to network and mingle with like-minded professionals from across the Asia-Pacific region.

CAPA President, Dr. Chen Yugui, shared, “the conference this year is a significant milestone for us, as it is the 20th instalment of a legacy that marked the birth of CAPA.”

To be hosted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka), the conference this time is themed ‘Heritage – Many businesses, One planet’. Going beyond the purely traditional focus areas of the accountancy profession to encompass the changes affecting our business and environmental landscapes, the conference will explore contemporary issues, opportunities and challenges presented by our times.

Recognising that the region includes some of the most dynamic and fastest changing economies, the theme will drive extensive deliberations on what the accountancy profession can and must do, what reforms must take place, and how we can rebuild trust, embrace ethics and good governance, as well as harness the positives of technology to forge a sustainable future and leave a heritage we can be proud of.

“The special line up of speakers and panellists will hold leading edge dialogues around the issues affecting the accountancy profession during our era. As accountants, we need to take a holistic perspective on how the profession can play its part today, for a better tomorrow,” Dr. Chen Yugui, enthused.

According to CAPA Chief Executive, Brian Blood, “this will be the first CAPA Conference hosted by CA Sri Lanka since it became our member in 1960.”

“What makes it more exciting is that CA Sri Lanka will be staging its 41st National Conference alongside the CAPA Conference, allowing local and international delegates to participate in both conferences simultaneously.
